All of that is good news

Our family has had more than our share of hard times this year. First, my husband lost his job about eleven months back. When he finally found a new job, he suffered a heart attack and was obviously unemployed again. The medical bills from his hospitalization were unbelievably high, and with three small children, it didn’t make sense for me to get a job while paying for childcare. And finally, our furnace broke, leaving us with no choice but to heat our home with space heaters and sleep with electric blankets. Somehow, word of our plight made its way to a large HVAC company not far from where we live. Unbeknownst to us, this heating and cooling company looks for a needy family to bless at Christmas time. So when I answered the door the week of Christmas, there stood a Santa Claus. Parked in the driveway was a service van and two other men standing nearby. Santa told me that he was there to install a brand new furnace in our home. At first I didn’t know what to think, but within minutes the two HVAC technicians – and Santa – opened the doors of the van and started carrying tools and boxes to our doorstep. By this time, I was joined by the rest of the family and reality started to sink in. This was really happening! We were all so overwhelmed and thankful to receive such an incredible gift. Soon the owner of the HVAC company arrived, smiling from ear to ear. I threw my arms around him and thanked him over and over again. Within one day we went from having no heat and no way to pay for a new furnace to having a brand new furnace installed at no expense.
