An icky air filter

I need to stay up to date on home maintenance & appliance performance.  I’m fantastic about mopping my floors & keeping my home generally scrub it out from top to bottom. However there are a few areas around the home that could use more patience & care. To start, my oven really hasn’t been cleaned in at least multiple years, & I can only imagine the layers of grease & all sorts of grime that I’m going to have to scrape off the bottom when I disinfect it later this week. My garage entryway is starting to fall off the tracks, which is something else I’ve been neglecting as well. But remembering to maintenance all of these multiple things around my house, I still somehow to forget about my Heating, Ventilation, & A/C filter.  The air handler filter is an essential component in your unit, and any blockages cause significant performance drop in your entire Heating, Ventilation, & A/C. Too little filtration & you run the big time risk of circulating dust & spores throughout your house, allowing them to gather on your evaporator coils just past the filter tray inside your air handler. Just as I had pictured, there were several layers of dust & dirt caked to the inside of my filter. I promptly bought a modern one & threw it in right away. The minute I turned my system back on, noticed how it felt cooler, dryer, & fresh smelling in the indoor air. I have to make sure I don’t overlook my filter in the future & switch it out before it gets that jammed & blocked up.
