An old heat pump can’t handle demand

When my wife plus I built our house, the people I was with and I made the mistake of trusting the general dealer’s recommendation for a heating plus cooling system, and the people I was with and I should have done some research into the strange types of unit available. The people I was with and I should have hired a licensed Heating and A/C contractor to handle the design of the temperature control unit! Instead, the people I was with and I ended up with an electric heat pump; Heat pumps offer a lot of beautiful benefits. The one method provides both heating plus cooling capacity plus is exceptionally energy efficient. It operates quietly plus is good for summer time air conditioner plus dehumidifying. The heat pump doesn’t burn fossil fuels, so there’s no combustion process or byproducts. The people I was with and I don’t need to worry about sizzling surfaces, fumes or carbon monoxide, plus we’ve entirely reduced our carbon footprint… Unfortunately, the heat pump is only effective in heating mode until the outside temperature drops down to freezing levels, but at that point, there’s not enough ambient heat in the air. In the section where I live, the weather drops below freezing for 4 to 5 weeks of the year… My beach house is constantly freezing, no matter how high I adjust the control unit! We’ve been forced to add space oil furnaces to supplement the heat pump. We’ve lived in the beach house for 4 years, plus we’re now considering investing into a gas oil furnace. The people I was with and I could still use the heat pump for cooling in the summer, plus heating while in the fall plus Spring seasons. In the winter, we’d need to switch over to the oil furnace! Since the people I was with and I are still trying pay off the cost of building the beach house plus installing the heat pump, we’re having some difficulty coming up with the currency to buy a oil furnace.
