Cats and pets are considered natural enemies, but I have often had both pets and cats at the same time with no problems.
- I no longer have a cat; I do have a pet I rescued last year, and I will admit that this pet, Frannie, does not care about cats at all.
I am sure she would just as soon kill a dog as look at it. The vet calls it “prey drive.” Anyway, in the past, that was not the case. The pet and dog I had before were pretty enjoyable friends, I thought. The only time I ever saw them do anything even slightly mean to each other was while I was in the heat waves of Summer or the bitter chilly of the coldest afternoons of winter, you may have guessed it; they used to get into scraps over the heating and cooling! It was so funny to watch sometimes. The pet would rush in from outside, where the temperature control was studying 95 degrees, and plop down right on top of the air conditioning system air vent. Yep, the pet was an air conditioning system hog! Anyway, the dog would come in, see the pet was enjoying the a/c, and want it for herself, but mind yo9u, there are air conditioning system vents in every room, but she wanted the a single the pet had, of course. She would set about to trick the pet by going over to the food bowls. She would make the eating noises she usually made when she got fed, and of course, the pet would run over to get fed, too. The dog would zip over and take control of the air conditioning system vent for herself! The dog had street smarts and air conditioning system smarts.
