Spring has sprung! Everyone is busy cleaning up their yards, sprucing up gardens, and making repair to anything that may have been damaged by the long winter months. This is also one of the busiest times of year at work. We have been mandated to work overtime for the past three weeks and that looks like it will continue for at least the next month. My wife and kids keep telling me that they miss me and I keep assuring them that I will be home soon. They are in bed when I leave in the morning and asleep most days when I get home. This is the life of an HVAC technician during the Spring and Fall of each year. People want their systems ready for the next season and they want them taken care of as quickly as possible. This means that we are booked, with back to back appointments, six days a week. Then on Sunday, we answer any emergency calls that come in. I feel like I am working on autopilot these days. The overtime pay is great and it will go a long way to paying for a much needed vacation this summer, but, during the weeks of such hectic work I often find myself wanting to give it all up. If you are trying to book an appointment with your own HVAC dealer for service please be patient and polite. The technician that shows up at your home or office is probably as tired as I am and I hope you treat them well. I always strive to treat each appointment like they are the most important thing I have to do that day and this seems to keep my customers pleasant with me too.
