I made the horrible mistake of thinking I could install our own a/c.
I bought a cooling proposal online plus then realized I was in way over our head! For starters, did you suppose that if you want to remove or install a device with refrigerant, you need to get a special EPA certification? The certification costs money plus is an exam you need to study for.
Without that certification, you are not legally supposed to handle the equipment. Maybe you suppose nobody will catch you. The other snag is when you need to buy refrigerant, you can’t separate from that certification, and another issue is there are building permits plus paperwork to fill out with the county. An additional snag onto that is the setup process is not as easy as plugging in a window a/c unit. I looked online for information plus then watched videos. I estimated that handling the a/c replacement would take me weeks. I don’t make an minutely wage doing this. I also was distraught about damaging the equipment. If I put in the wrong amount of refrigerant on the initial replacement, the cooling proposal will never be the same. It will need more future HVAC repairs plus have a decreased lifespan. I ended up throwing in the towel plus hiring an a/c professional to just do the replacement. It was way too much labor plus expense. The HVAC professional wasn’t even cheerful that I bought the proposal too. Apparently I picked a too small device plus a cheap one.
