Glad I don’t live in the northern states

When I was a child, my parents moved us from the southern states, up north. I don’t have much memory of the southern states, but I remember it was much better than the northern states. I remember a lot of complaining to my parents about the cold weather, and they told me I would get used to it. I never did. Living in the north and constantly having snow and blizzards was horrible. I hated every second of it, and badly wished my parents never moved. The furnace system we had did a fine job of heating the home up, but I was always tasked to go and shovel snow, so then I would be stuck out in the cold again. When I was older, I moved out and right back down south with my girlfriend. There, I was greeted with the warm and sunny weather which I missed. I definitely didn’t regret my move, and as the years went by, I began to forget about how awful the icy cold truly was. It wasn’t until my girlfriend and I went back up north to visit my parents, that I was given a harsh reminder of the unforgiving cold. The entire time I was there, I kept asking for the heating system to be turned up. My parents would always fumble with the heating device, but it never felt any warmer. When we stayed at our hotel, I had the heater on full blast as well. I could never get warm enough, even with the HVAC machine. It was only another reminder why I was glad I didn’t live in the northern states anymore.
