After considering all unusual types of machines, I finally selected an elliptical for our home gym. There are very nice reasons why this style of device has received popularity in the last few years. Compared to other devices, an elliptical doesn’t take up any extra space. The operation is virtually silent, allowing me to workout at all hours of the afternoon or night without bothering family members. The device includes a convenient cup holder and spot to put our iphone and bluetooth speaker. It features a very big touchscreen display that is simple to operate. I can set the parameters of our workout according to duration, distance or calories burned. I can choose from a wide variety of already loaded programs in a wide variety of locations or watch television or a motion picture while I workout. I like that the elliptical avoids stress on our joints. Unlike running or jumping rope, there is no hard impact causing damage to our hips, knees, ankles or feet. My feet never lift off the pedals. The gliding motion is extremely smooth and beneficial. Plus, an elliptical is 1 of the few machines able to task both arms and legs. I have handles that I can pull on while simultaneously moving our feet. I can absolutely up the resistance to increase the demands and calorie burn of the workout. I always get our heart pumping and lungs expanding and end up drenched with sweat by the end of the session. While the elliptical I chose was quite costly, I am totally satisfied with the purchase. I feel it was far more worthwhile than buying a treadmill or stationary bike.
