Last month, I interviewed for a work with a long haul trucking company.
I have had our CDL license for 2 years and during that time I have worked for a couple of various companies.
I don’t prefer to be gone overnight, however most good paying jobs will require it. Last month, I didn’t plan on taking a new job that kept me out overnight. I only went to the interview, because my dad knew the owner of the company. He thought it would be a great opportunity for me, so I went to the interview to talk to the guy. I legitimately didn’t want to drive overnight or several days at a time, however the money was too fine to pass up. I get paid compensation for every mile that I drive and also for every hour I am behind the wheel. I will be now working as a delivery driver for an industrial HVAC products company. The industrial HVAC products company has a big warehome in this city. I am responsible for picking up HVAC products from the warehome and delivering them to the separate hubs around the state. On Thursdays, I am responsible for driving to the next state. I have to make one delivery there each week and I am required to stay in the truck the whole time. It’s more than 11 drives there and another 11 hours on the way home. I can’t even leave while the men are unloading. Thankfully, I have a toilet in the cab of our truck for emergencies. It’s a very long day on the road.
