Heated floors work like a heating pad

I was happy to have my father come and stay with us for a few weeks last winter. However, I nearly had a heart attack when I came home from work and found him lying on his back in the middle of the living room floor. I thought he had gotten hurt or had some sort of medical emergency. However as I dropped my purse and ran to him, he opened his eyes and assured me that he was relatively fine. He said he had been shoveling the snow off of the driveway and for us and that his back was a little bit stiff afterwards. When he noticed how warm our heated floors are, he decided to lay down on the floor for a bit. He said he must have fallen asleep because the floor was so warm and comfortable. I helped him sit up and then after constant reassurance that he really was ok, I helped him stand up. Dad stretched his back and said, “Would you look at that! My back pain is completely gone.” Apparently the floor heat took his backache away completely. I was happy to hear this but even happier to see that he really did seem to be fine. We all had a good laugh about it later that night when my husband came home. When we bought a house with heated floors, we never thought we were actually buying a giant heating pad that cures back pain. But, I guess it makes sense. Heated floor do heat up the same way that a heating pad does. There are wires running under the floor just like the wires in a heating pad.
