HVAC equipment failure goes with no maintenance.

I don’t know why I do it, but I always seem to cancel my HVAC maintenance.

It seems that I schedule my maintenance in advance, but by the time it comes around, something else has come up so I cancel the HVAC maintenance. I know that I should keep the maintenance appointment and reschedule the other things, but they always seem to be more important. I seem to always rationalize it away, but now it is coming back to bite me in the butt. The other day, right in the middle of my nap, my air conditioning left out a horrible sound and then it quit running. It didn’t matter what I did, the air conditioner was not going to work again. It was too hot outside to go without air conditioning so I called the HVAC company, risking possibly getting chastised for not doing the maintenance. When the HVAC tech showed up, he went right outside and started working on the air conditioner. An hour later he had it fixed and my air was already cooling off. When he came inside and gave me the bill, I was stunned. He told me that if I had my maintenance done, they would have found that part was broken and fixed it before it became a problem. Now I was left with paying for an emergency call. I guess I learned my lesson that day, because I don’t plan on ever cancelling my HVAC maintenance again. I only hope the same thing doesn’t happen to my furnace before I can have the maintenance done.
