I never foresaw average summertime temperatures growing to this degree back when my family first moved to this region.
It was at least 20 years back, and despite having intense summer season heat waves from time to time, something insane like 110 degrees on an August day was quite rare.
I remember weeks at a time that would elapse in between turning the air conditioning device on to cycle. The bunch of us simply left the front door open with the screen door shut, along with a window on the opposite side of the household. With a straight-forward setup such as that, the bunch of us had a pretty decent cross breeze if there was a tiny bit of wind outside. This went on for several years with little to no change. Even by the time I was applying for university, the weather conditions had remained relatively the same for the whole course of my life up until that point. But when I started to rent my first household after college was over, I could tell that something had changed abruptly. The average highs throughout the hot season were getting outrageous, in addition to even the Winter season started to feel a great deal colder all of a sudden. Right now I’m barely making enough currency to afford the electricity costs just to keep the air conditioning device running. If I don’t want to sweat inside of my household, I have no choice. It has gotten so terrible that I am now thinking about a permanent transfer out of my home state. And with the way climate change is projected, things will never improve. Even if I had a good amount of money and could keep my A/C as low as 50 degrees, I still wouldn’t want to live around here. Just walking from my automobile to the door at the grocery store is enough to make me break a sweat.
