I knew I made a mistake

My younger sibling is very smart, but in some ways also incredibly foolish… Recently, he let his oil tank run empty. All Summer long he hadn’t thought to check on his oil levels because he thought the water oil furnace ran off of electricity. I later found out, his water oil furnace is connected to the house’s central heating system, this is because the cabin he bought in the Springtime uses an oil boiler. I could not think that he had never thought to look over the central heating unit when he bought the house, let alone have it checked. Well, he had the oil filled up last week, but the boiler wouldn’t work. He ended up having to restart the boiler in the middle of the night when he got home from work. I asked him why he didn’t just hire an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C contractor come to fix it up. He said he didn’t want to spend money the stupidly high emergency fee for calling an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C contractor after normal business hours, however now that he has the heat running through, the boiler is being super loud. It sounds like its cycling all the time as well as I’m upset that he genuinely needs to get it scanned on. He swears up as well as down it’s not that old so it should be fine. He said it’s created in 2000. Well, many days ago the heating stopped working during our first big freezing period. When the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C contractor came by, he said he could patch up the system, but it would be pricey. The model is called a System 2000, not made in 2000!
