I miss having a fireplace

I miss having a fireplace in the house where I’m living now.

I know it sounds silly, but a house without a fireplace just doesn’t ever feel like home to me.

It’s probably because I grew up in a house with a wood burning fireplace. Even though we used it in our house as a main source of heating when I was growing up, it still just set the tone for our home to be cozy and quaint. I loved having a crackling fire in the fireplace back when I was a kid, and it has not changed much now that I’m an adult. Even though these days I wouldn’t ever use a wood burning fireplace as a main heating source, a fireplace still has a special place in my heart. I actually talked to our local heating and cooling company to find out how much it would cost to have a wood burning fireplace installed in our house, but it would end up being a small fortune. The HVAC technician told me that I would be better off installing gas logs in a fireplace than trying to put in an actual wood burning fireplace. That’s not a terrible idea, I don’t suppose, but then you don’t get the nice smoky smell from gas logs that you get from a wood burning fireplace, either. I don’t know. I am hoping that the HVAC company will give me a really good deal and someday I can get the fireplace of my dreams installed in our house just like I always wanted.
