The job that left the worst impression on me of all the dirty jobs I’ve done was simple: I had to haul and toil for this small property management company in town.
It doesn’t sound bad yet, but just wait.
See, if someone in neighborhood wants to rent their home or duplex out to potential tenants, they pay a property management company to act as a middle man and handle any repairs or emergencies through our company. We have our small team of handymen for general contracting, so we can handle anything! But the people I was with and I also buy cheap homes with the intention to then flip them for a profit. Since the business has grown, so has the number of houses for us to fix up, clean and “flip”. The issue remains, though, that the people I was with and I live in a super-hot and humid region within the south. What do you think happens when a house has been sealed off from the outdoors, and has been getting hot and humid for days, weeks or even months? Mold, that’s what happens! Mold spores get onto everything, and the house rapidly deteriorates. I only went into two houses without warning of the mold spores, and that was all it took for me to quit. You have no idea how dangerous mold can be for your health until it’s too late, so don’t fall for it! And please, if you ever leave town, leave the air conditioning system running!
