I thought that would work out

If I am sure of something in life it’s, Murphy’s law. No matter how good you have it, something can always go wrong. I can’t tell you how many times life has taught me this, and I am sure you get it too. We can be precautious about things, but we can’t ever be fully prepared for all that may happen. This is something we get used to at some point, regardless of who we are. Anyway, I bring up Murphy’s Law, because of what took place at my family’s last Christmas celebration. First of all, I would like to say we faithfully change out the air filter for our furnace, however that wasn’t sufficient to prevent what would ensue. There happened to be a bit of a snow storm coming through that day, and we were really cranking up the furnace temp to keep us warm. Honestly, I think it’s because we didn’t ever have an HVAC service technician work on our furnace that year, that there were problems with our furnace we could not predict. It was around 10:00 in the morning when we started to open up presents, amd we noticed the house’s temperature was dipping low. Our heater had shut down entirely. Even without central heating, we were going to get through our gift-giving. We decided to light our fireplace beside the Christmas tree, so we all just tried to get warmth from it as we continued opening presents. It was still quite chilly, but at least we had a little heat from the fireplace for some relief. It was still a wonderful Christmas that year, but it would have been nice to have avoided the inevitability of Murphy’s law.
