I’m glad the heater is still working

I am through with these deranged energy costs.  The utility bill is getting completely out of hand.  Plus, the energy costs trend is simply unsustainable.  I can’t fork over this much of my paycheck to the power bill alone.  I understand that where I live is a power sucking vortex throughout the Summer weeks.  It is unavoidable. But, I’m sick of simply taking it while not attempting to focus on mitigating some of these costs.  I’ve installed the smart temperature control plus synced it to the current automatic blinds. I’m hoping for some significant savings from this investment.  However, this is not enough. I want to change my behavior while still having a decently cooled townhome to live in… To that end, I am attempting to add some modifications which should leverage heating and AC efficiency.  First, I got rid of every single incandescent light bulb in the house. I had no clue how tepid those things get. Those bulbs reach temperatures of nearly 340 degrees! While an equivalent LED bulb gets to less than 90 degrees.  Additionally, my boyfriend and I went up to our attic to seal around the perimeter while also adding more r 60 insulation. I never realized how out of date our insulation absolutely was. Fans get turned on in any room I occupy. They cost like 30 times less to operate than the central air conditioning.  While they don’t absolutely cool the air, it sure feels good on my skin. This allows my boyfriend and I to leave the temperature control a bit higher more consistently. Finally, dinner is either grilled outside or straight from the fridge. The oven plus the range are to be used only sparingly while we’re in the height of summer.  Just doing all these things in conjunction with heating and AC tune ups should help me to at least fight back some against the towering utility bill.
