A majority of my close friends probably believe I am completely nuts.
I have finally come to the close of a long and satisfying job.
But, I have chosen the Midwest as the arena I want to spend my retirement. Everyone figured I would head to the sun. It’s what most of my colleagues and peers have done in the past. Yet, I was blessed to have lived in the Midwest for a number of years during a portion of my job. There was just something about the region I hastily came to love. The people are entirely laid back and the sense of community is something I have looked for all my years. So, when I had the opportunity to purchase a great tract of land, I snatched it up. As my job was winding down I was able to build my dream household. The best section of the household is the heating and cooling system I invested in. My home is heated and cooled using a geothermal Heating & Air Conditioning device. This type of Heating & Air Conditioning system works by utilizing the earth’s near constant temperature to extract both heating and cooling energy. A loop which is located beneath my household pulls energy to move to the heating and cooling device. During the winter, the heat energy is transferred to water which runs through coils under the floors. This radiant heating is just the best. It is so comfortable and the best thing is that I can walk around barefoot year round. When the temps drop way down, there is a supplemental gas furnace which helps to heat the water for the heating I use. The geothermal HVAC equipment is particularly an investment. However, the utility savings will be rather significant. And I will be enjoying those savings for 30 years or longer. Yep, the Midwest is definitely my final stop.
