I would roll my eyes, because I heard the same thing every time.
For as long as I can remember, my dad has always been an HVAC technician. In this tiny town that we live in, everyone knows him as the HVAC technician as well, and he’s very well liked. He runs his own independent HVAC business, and has grown a huge clientele due to his work ethic, reliability, and honestly. Growing up, my dad was constantly on call Monday through Friday. On the weekends however, he always assigned work to interns for emergency house calls. I used to be ashamed of his profession, because nobody else in my class had a dad who worked with heating and air. I also had no idea what HVAC systems were, so it was hard to explain what my dad did to others. All my other classmates had dads who were teachers, coaches, firefighters, or policemen, which I thought was way cooler. Every time my dad and I would drive somewhere, he’d point out all the houses along the way that he’d visited or worked in. I would roll my eyes, because I heard the same thing every time. Now that I’m older, I think my dad has an amazing career and is an incredible businessman. I admire him so much, that I want to follow in his footsteps and take over the family heating and air business one day. I plan on becoming certified in heating and air, while also getting my bachelors degree in business! I know this makes my dad proud, and I can’t wait to extend the business to my own son one day.
