I dated this guy for several weeks, before I called it quits.
- I think prefer I tolerated a lot, prefer him leaving the toilet seat up, leaving the dirty dishes in the sink, and leaving his wet clothes in the dryer.
However, there’s a single thing I couldn’t tolerate, which led to our breakup. He was reckless when it came to the heat and air equipment. I didn’t expect him to think everything about heating and air, although I did expect him to have a general understanding of what was appropriate when running the Heating and Air Conditioning system. He would turn on our furnace and set the thermostat to 68 degrees, which is rather high to begin with. Then, he’d leave his kitchen window open or he would forget to close the front door! Our furnace would run for minutes at max capacity, trying to heat an apartment that was always getting cool air from an open door and window! During the summer, he’d set the temperature of the air entirely low and do the same thing. This was just plain irresponsible! I wish I could say that he only did it once, but he did it all the time. It didn’t matter how often I told him that our furnace couldn’t be set so high, and our A/C couldn’t be set so low, only to have the heat and air escape through the open window and door. Our energy bills were enormous, which is why I had to end things. I just can’t be with someone who has no sense of efficiency.
