Last year, for my Mother’s 50th birthday, my siblings and I wanted to go all out to make her feel special.
We reserved a private room above one of my Mother’s favorite restaurants so we could accommodate our family and a few of her closest friends.
We got to the restaurant early to bring the cake and start setting up the decorations, when my sister pointed out how warm it was in the room. Originally, we thought it was just because we had been walking up and down the stairs so many times, but once we were still for a little while we all noticed how hot it was. We asked the manager to turn the air conditioner to a lower temperature, but 20 minutes later, we were still feeling hot. We asked the manager if she had adjusted the thermostat, and she told us she did, but that the air conditioner didn’t work very well. My sister and I noted that our mother doesn’t like to be too hot, and when the manager told us that there wasn’t anything else she could do, we had to come up with a new plan. Luckily, the restaurant across the street had an opening in their large party room, and when we went to go check it out, we were greeted by the cool air coming from their powerful air conditioner. We hustled to transport all of the decorations, and contacted everyone on the guest list to let them know about the updated plans. The party was fantastic, and my mother and all of the guests were completely comfortable all night long, thanks to the efficient air conditioner.
