Next time I am sticking with the professionals

I live in a fairly hot climate, and never have to worry about my furnace much.

There is maybe a month and a half or so when I need to use my furnace to heat my home, and it has always worked for the 5 years I lived in my home.

That is, however, until last fall, we had an unusually cold week, and I had to run the furnace earlier than I expected. The first night everything worked fine, and my family was able to comfortably eat dinner and get ready for bed with the assistance of the furnace. However, we awoke to an uncomfortably cold house, and my oil furnace stopped working entirely. Luckily I was off from work that afternoon, so I did what I always do when something is broken, and turned to YouTube. The man in the video made it seem easy enough: remove the defective part, replace it with a new one, and my oil furnace should be working again, right? I went to the hardware store to buy the replacement part, took it home and got to work. The old part came out with ease, and the new one was installed just like it was in the video. I confidently turned the furnace back on, however to my dismay, the furnace was blowing cold air. I looked up more videos online, and made several more trips to the hardware store, however I couldn’t get my furnace working. Meanwhile, my family was all dealing with living in a cold house. Frustrated, I finally decided to call a local Heating and A/C professional to come assess my situation. Luckily, they were able to send someone out fast, and the Heating and A/C professional was able to quickly identify my problem, and had it fixed in no time. Next time, I will go straight to the pro’s.
