Not too thrilled about the upcoming ban on freon

It amazes me how there are certain people who grasp on to some of the stupidest things plus simply won’t let go.

It feels as though frustration plus anger easily spreads through our society these days.

Everyone is looking for someone to blame for perceived slights plus injustice. And, boy can those scapegoats get weird. The new debate about the global environment is a pretty nice example. The are factions who are on either extremes of the evergoing debate. And wow, do they ever cling to their positions intensely. How interesting would it be if all these people could learn to work together. There is so much energy wasted by simply occupying wildly extreme positions. Then there is our father. He is so annoyed about the R 22 Freon ban which is only a few months away. He has an aged heat pump he has nursed along for a little over 20 years. And he seems to feel that this heat pump will work until the end of time. Doesn’t seem to matter to him that he is paying a ton of money on utilities. He instead is convinced there is a fairly huge government conspiracy aimed at taking away his R 22 refrigerant. I’ve attempted to explain what Freon actually does to our ozone layer. Both of us even went online to learn about the studies of what hydrochlorofluorocarbons do to wreck the ozone layer that keeps us from being burnt to a crisp by the sun. Dad wants nothing to do with any of it to be honest. I tried to frame the fight in a different kind of way also. I asked him how he would feel about having his grandchildren live underground because the ozone layer was actually depleted. This caught his attention to a certain degree. He is still convinced that all the lefty green people were out to get him. But perhaps upgrading the aged heat pump would be the best move. It was for the kids after all.
