My boyfriend and I are in the process of redoing all of our floors.
We moved into hideous brown rugs all over the house.
It was wrinkly, ugly and dirty. We pulled up the rug hoping to uncover hardwood floors and instead found plywood. No matter though, the plan is to get the tile floor set down all over the house. My brother put up a good point though. He asked me if my boyfriend and I were going to do heated flooring while doing the tile installation. You need to rip up your floors anyway to get this heating system. All I would need to do is put the electric heated mats on the plywood, tile over top and then I have heated flooring. I have looked into the cost of electric heated flooring and it is not cheap. The tile flooring is going to cost around 8 grand to do the entire house. Getting heated flooring is going to cost another 8 grand. My boyfriend has agreed to buy the tile floors and said no way do we need heated flooring. I see his point, living in the south means there are not a lot of cold days. Really only a few months out of the year are cold. So why would we get heated flooring for only a brief time in our lives? I hate to miss out on such a great heating system though. Once the new tile goes down, I am forever signing up for no radiant heating. I don’t know if I want to spend that much money to get the heating system but it would be great to have a silent, efficient and clean device.
