Personal training for weight loss purposes

As a child, I was always a bit overweight.

My whole family is on the chubby side and has unhealthy eating habits.

While I was growing up, there was always an abundance of snack foods, candy and ice cream available. For dinner, we frequently ordered pizza or drove through one of the fast food places. My mother believed we slept better on a full belly, so she always gave us a snack before bed. These weren’t healthy snacks. She gave us donuts, potato chips and cookies. No one in my family ever had an interest in sports or got involved in any type of physical hobby. I was clueless as to how to burn calories or properly exercise. I only gained weight as I got older and became very upset about my appearance. I lacked confidence, suffered from depression and found it difficult to make friends. I was lonely, discouraged and felt there was little chance of ever falling in love with someone. I desperately wanted to change my lifestyle. I looked into joining a gym but was far too intimidated. I then saw a blog online that talked about the benefits of working with a personal trainer. The idea of training with a professional in a one-on-one setting really appealed to me. We started with a consultation where the personal trainer asked me all about my eating habits, level of physical activity and long and short term goals. Getting my BMI measured and stepping on the scale were not fun, but the personal trainer was super nice about it. I got a meal plan personalized toward my preferences that included a lot of vegetables, fruits and lean proteins. Partnering the new diet with intense workout sessions provided results very quickly. As soon as I started to see a difference in the mirror and on the number on the scale, I was further motivated. I started looking up healthy recipes and working out in-between our sessions.
