Puppy is too hot

We are in one of the craziest times in our lifetime as this pandemic runs its course in our country and across the globe.

I am someone who has always wanted to get a dog, but it never felt like the right time.

When I found out I would be working from home for six months, I figured there was never a better time. As the summer months have hit, our puppy has proven to hate the heat. We can only get her to go outside during the morning or evening hours when the sun is not out. The rest of the day she spends flopped in front of the air conditioner. When we first got here, we only had one unit, but we actually ended up investing in another one to help keep the apartment cool. This one is a standing air conditioner that connects to the outside air through a window. It is much higher powered and even has a dehumidifier attachment. We pretty much have our two air conditioning units running all day and every day. The temperature has been in the 90s for the last two weeks, and we live on the third floor, so without the air conditioning, it would be unbearably hot. I love our new puppy, but running the air conditioning this much has driven up our electricity bill quite a bit! I want nothing more than for our new puppy to be comfortable in our home, but it’s costing me a pretty penny! With the heat this high, I can’t even turn off the air conditioners overnight or else the place gets so hot. I love the warm weather, but I am looking forward to the fall when the temperature drops a good twenty degrees so that we can just open the window instead of blasting the air conditioning all day and night!
