A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided to tour a seasoned cigar factory. My husband’s family has been in the tobacco industry for almost a century now. Cigars are in our culture; Both of us have a small cigar shop that hand rolls cigars all morning. My husband and I were enthusiastic to tour the cigar factory, which was among the oldest in our state, this place is known for its extraordinary use of hemp paper. My husband and I were part of a tour group of 20 or 25 people. Both of us made sure we toured the whole building, before we came to a room with workers hand-rolling cigars. The room had 24 stations with three people hand-rolling cigars at each station. The room was only accessible using an access card. And since the cigars needed to be kept in a special temperature controlled area, only certain individuals could access the area. Our tour guide explained the intricate Heating and Air Conditioning system. The cigar room was filled with exposed ductwork and many air vents. The Heating and Air Conditioning plan was set up just for the purpose of rolling cigars. The Heating and Air Conditioning unit included a specialized humidifier. The unit kept the room at the ideal temperature, with perfect humidity conditions. The Heating and Air Conditioning were especially pressing, because the indoor air quality conditions affected the quality and taste of the tobacco. The light humidity made it possible to roll the cigars, without spoiling the delicate hemp paper, it was an intricate plan and very interesting to watch. At the end of it all, we were given a hand-rolled cigar. It was the best cigar I ever laid my eyes upon.
