Space heaters are not safe

I just want everyone to know that space heaters are not a very safe alternative to a properly working furnace.

I am glad that most people that I know have a properly working furnace.

When I say a properly working furnace, I mean a furnace that works so well that there is no need for a space heater throughout your house. Space heaters are fine if you know how to use them properly. Space heaters are meant to supplement heat in your house, but they are definitely not made to replace the furnace. If your furnace randomly stops working, one of the worst things that you can do is turn on the space heater. Most outlets are not built to allow your space heater to run continuously on the highest setting. Furthermore, space heaters are never supposed to be used at night where they cannot be constantly supervised. The risk of having a house fire due to a space heater is very high. Every winter, multiple houses burn down because people do not know how to use a space heater problem. As an electrician, I can confidently say that I replace dozens of outlets every winter because a space heater has melted the outlet. Let me be the first to tell you: if your furnace stops working, call an HVAC technician immediately. Do not plug in multiple space heaters around your house. If you cannot handle the cold temperatures, try to stay with someone else. I don’t know if it is possible for companies to make safer space heaters, but until then, please be very cautious with the manner in which you use your space heater.
