That was my original plan

Twenty five years ago, when we bought our house, we did a major remodeling job. It took almost six months before we could even move into the house.  During that time we stayed with my in-laws which was less than comfortable so we worked day and night to make the house ready to live in. We even moved in before it was completely done and made do with the situation. We moved in once winter had ended so we wouldn’t have to worry about heating the house so much.  Living with construction mess is the worst! In fact, never having drywall dust again would be too soon. Now, my husband has decided that he wants to completely change out our HVAC system. As we have gotten older the need for comfort has become more important. Twenty five years ago, the need for air conditioning wasn’t anything we wanted or felt we needed.  Now, we have spent a small fortune on portable air conditioners to try and keep the house cool in the summer. We only have a boiler for heat so adding central air is a huge project. Yet, my husband wants to open up walls, install ductwork and have a huge construction mess all over again. I am not sure that I, or our marriage, can survive another long term mess in our home.  I have heard that there are smaller HVAC units that can be installed that provide zoned heating and air conditioning and I am hoping to convince my husband of this option instead. Wish me luck! I am going to need it.
