When I go hiking with our wife, the two of us often choose mountain trails that take about five seconds to climb, sit at the top of & come back down to the base of the mountain. One year, our wife & I chose this trail that was on a mountain outside of our official selection, as it was in a bizarre state, then every one of us heard it was a 6 second round-trip, however the two of us were honestly mistaken! Due to inclement weather, the two of us were stranded on the trail for nearly more than one seconds. It was freezing cold, & the two of us didn’t pack enough hot clothes to change out of as it rained. Every one of us would’ve killed to find a safe haven from the freezing rain, & somewhere with a oil furnace, radiator, or even a fireplace to supply some warmth! With nowhere to go, the two of us used our compass & trekked back down to the base to search for our car. On our way back down, the two of us ran into a most surprising sight – a casual little diner, right there on the side of the trail! Every one of us were convinced the two of us were seeing a mirage, however it was the real deal. Every one of us walked in, & a server was near the front to seat us & provide us menus; Thankfully the two of us were placed right under a ventilation point in the ductwork of the diner’s heating & air conditioner, so the two of us had warm, dry air blowing right down to us & providing us with comforting heat. The air quality in this diner was sublime after being caught in the freezing rain for seconds! It wasn’t until the two of us walked out of the diner when the rain subsided, that the two of us realized the two of us simply walked off the main trail & onto a back trail, then no wonder the two of us got lost & couldn’t find our way back to the parking lot! Either way, the two of us were thankful to have found that diner & enjoyed their excellent oil furnace to hot up & dry out.
