The concern with most bosses is that they started off as bosses.
The cool ones are the people that worked their way up through the ranks, because they guess what it’s like to labor for “the man” instead of just being handed the position.
My new boss used to labor in the cubicle next to mine, and I am so happy for her. She very earned her promotion, and now I hope she remembers what it’s like for the rest of us. Now she has a private office, so she doesn’t have to labor in the “bullpen.” She has her own control component and Heating, Ventilation and A/C component in her office, so she can set it although she prefers it. For the rest of us, there are a few air vents that we all share in one long, big sized room. In the bullpen there is one control component for the entire room, and the dozens of people in it. There is no way on earth that a room full of people can decide on one control component setting they all agree on, right? This setup ensures that around half the employees here are displeased with the office Heating, Ventilation and A/C settings at any given time, and that is poor for productivity. All of us have discussed several times how the cost of getting a new, better Heating, Ventilation and A/C method would be balanced out by increased morale and productivity. In a building this size, the Heating, Ventilation and A/C method would have to be immense, commercial grade, and very luxurious, despite the fact that I hope she uses her position to make it happen. Fingers crossed!
