As my husband and I were touring various houses throughout the neighborhood, we never found one that felt like home for our family.
There was always something wrong with the houses we saw.
We felt like the kitchen was too small, there weren’t enough bedrooms, or something major needed to be updated. During our last tour, we fell in love with almost everything about it. There was plenty of room for our family and there weren’t any major renovations that needed done. However, there was one thing that was really bothering me about the house and that was the fact that it had a gas furnace. I’d never lived in a house with a gas furnace before and I was really worried about the safety of running one. I was so accustomed to electric furnaces that I’d never considered a house with a gas furnace before. The previous owners had recently installed it, which our realtor told us was fantastic because they were rather expensive. He also said that gas furnaces kept a house really warm during the brutal winter temperatures and ran really efficiently. When I asked him how he knew so much about gas furnaces, he told me that he had one in his house too. Knowing this, I asked him how he kept it running safely. He said that he’d installed a few carbon monoxide detectors and had it serviced regularly. We decided that it was worth the risk since we loved everything else about the house, so we put in an offer!
