I really never foresaw average warm season temperatures growing to such a degree back when our family first moved to this particular area. It was at least 20 years back, and despite having harshly warm season heat waves every so often, something deranged like 110 degrees on a July afternoon was actually rare. I remember weeks at a time that would elapse in between turning the a/c machine on to cycle. We merely left the front door open with the screen door shut, along with a window on the opposite side of the residence. With a fairly simple setup like that, we had an excellent cross breeze if there was a tiny bit of wind outside. This went on for so long with little to no change. Even by the time I was applying for college, the climate had stayed roughly the same for my entire life up until that point. But when I started to rent my first residence after undergrad was over, I could tell that something had changed all of a sudden. The average highs throughout the warm season were becoming extreme, and even the Winter season started to feel way colder all of a sudden. Right now I’m barely making enough cash to afford the expensive electricity costs just to keep the a/c machine running. If I don’t wish to sweat indoors, I honestly have no choice. It has gotten so horrible that I am now considering a permanent transfer out of our home state. And with the way climate change is projected, things will never improve. Even if I had plenty of funds and could keep our AC as low as 50 degrees, I still wouldn’t want to stick around here. Just walking from my motorcar to the door at the grocery store is enough to make me sweat profusely.
