To Program the Thermostat or Not

Do you know what the age-old question is, wondered by many throughout this giant universe of ours?  You might think that I am referring to the meaning of life, or something like that. However, I am actually talking about whether you should keep the temperature of your heating and cooling system at a set temperature every day, all day long, or whether you should adjust the thermostat as the weather changes.  Some people think that they should keep the air conditioning running when they are not home in order to not come home to a hot house. Then others simply adjust the thermostat higher, or lower (depending on the time of year) so that the heat or A/C does not come on as often. Both of these groups would benefit from a programmable thermostat.  That way the programmable thermostat would do the adjustment for them, and the thinking.  Besides, having control over the thermostat in my house is akin to claiming ownership over the TV control.  It is a sacred position, and rarely do I get control of either the thermostat or the TV. So I’ve asked my husband to consider a programmable thermostat so we won’t be adjusting anything.  I realize that he will still have the last word on the temperature control of the house, but maybe I can get the HVAC tech to program some temperatures for me, too.  After all, my husband is not home all the time, and it is those other times that I would like to have my preferred climate control temperatures.
