We needed a new filter

Summer has arrived and so has the uncomfortably hot weather.  I live in one of the hottest and wettest places on the planet, so on top of intense temperatures, I am subjected to sticky humidity as well.  I have lived in a number of different houses and apartments since moving down here years ago, and had mixed results with the varying HVAC setups in each place.  In the beginning, I rented a small two bedroom condo that employed two window air conditioners as the sole sources of cooling. Although they tended to get the job done, it came at the price of a costly electricity bill in the summers and less control over the climate throughout the condo.  I felt like I was constantly adjusting the temperature knobs on the two machines and it was getting daunting during the day. After receiving a work promotion, I was lucky enough to finally afford renting a small house for a change. This came with the joy of finally having a central heating and cooling system to better maintain climate control steadily everyday.  However, the house I was renting was old and wasn’t exactly well maintained in the years leading up to my signing the lease. Although it had been at least a decade since I had access to a central AC after moving out of my parents house, I knew something wasn’t right when the machine was running every two to three minutes. A local HVAC technician inspected my system and found several large leaks in the ductwork.  The landlord refused to pay to have the ventilation fixed and I lacked the necessary funds at the time to get the job done, so I had to deal with it. Now that I live in a modern home with an updated heating and cooling system, my woes over efficiency and predictability in my HVAC have finally disappeared. Instead, now I can focus on more pressing issues like starting a family or saving for a new car.
