Work retreat – heated floors

I’m really not the type of person who can define myself by a job.

I don’t know how other human beings get into a career and stay there for forty years.

I don’t know how people can find joy in attending an office building every day and socializing via small talk with their co-workers. I don’t know how anyone can define a lifetime by the way that they are paid. Furthermore, I really don’t want to have a job if I don’t have to… Which is why I do not need to be forced to go to company parties, meetings, and retreats. Unfortunately, my company disagrees. Last weekend I had to go to a horrible co-worker retreat which I was really not looking forward to. Honestly, I was surprised that anything good came out of the trip at all… Even if that was indoor air quality control ideas. You see, I have always operated a central heating, cooling, and air quality control system at my house. It is the same basic, traditional heating and cooling system setup that most middle-class Americans grow up with. I don’t have a fancy air conditioning unit and there is nothing special about my heating device. When I arrived at the work retreat, however, I was blown away by the indoor air quality control system. Namely, the heated flooring that was distributed throughout the entire house. The floors felt absolutely amazing to walk across and they provided the most even temperature control I think I’ve ever experienced. The entire cabin felt so warm and comfortable, I actually sort of enjoyed being there. When all of my co-workers left for the weekend, I booked a few extra days to enjoy the heated floors by myself. At least I have something to work towards now – upgrading my heating, cooling, and air quality control system.
